Iiris IR-35 and Breeze Tronic Pro device comparison for Salt Therapy
ManufacturersIiris is manufactured by Estonian company Indium Top. They never operated a Salt Cave and treated patients monitored by medical professionals. Maybe this is why they never made significant development on their devices and they did not change much in the last 5 years. They did not achieve recognition by the western medical world or media for their product. Breeze Tronic Pro was developed and tested by Allergy & Asthma Ltd which introduced Salt Therapy to the UK in 2008. They are operating 5 Salt Caves under their brand across the UK and Johannesburg and treated over 7000 clients in 2 years and achieved 50+ PR releases by high profile media such as CNN, BBC, Guardian, Times or Vogue. They have developed Breeze Tronic Pro as no other manufacturers met their requirements to provide Salt Therapy on high standards they needed to achieve this success. CE medical device classificationBoth devices passed the EU's conformity requirements for medical devices. CE medical device certificate simply means that it is safe to operate that device from technical point of view (e.g. electrical insulation are OK and it can't shock the operator) and it is in line with the harmonized EU conformity regulations. It does not mean that the device will heal patients with asthma and other respiratory illnesses. Sensors for monitoring the microclimateThe biggest difference between these devices is that at Iiris there is no sensor located in the ducting and the therapy room therefore the operator has no information whatsoever about the concentration and salt particle size in the salt room. On the Breeze Tronic Pro device the operator just enters the condition of the patients through the touch screen (e.g. 2 people with Acute Sinusitis, 3 with Ear infection and 1 with COPD) and the device will calculate which concentration and particle size will be the most beneficial for this session. Due to the number of sensors in the room it always has information about the current microclimate in the therapy room and it accordingly adjusts the speed of the diffuser, dosator, fan and booster fan to ensure that the aerosol the clients are breathing is at the optimal level. On the Iiris device however only the speed of the fan, diffuser and dosator can be entered manually. In this case there the exact concentration and particle size in the room is unknown. Without these sensors it is impossible to estimate the current concentration as the humidity, temperature, number of clients, size of the room, shape of the room, etc have a significant impact on it even if the speed of fan/diffuser/dosator is known. Even if we would know about the parameters of the microclimate, in order for us to accurately know the ideal concentration for each patient’s medical condition in the groups, we would need to manually calculate it for each session using various medical studies. This is the most significant advantage of the Breeze Tronic Pro device as all these are done automatically by the sensors, microprocessors and built in calculation logics. Indium Top states that the size of the room (sqm) can be entered to the device and based on that it will now the concentration. The only problem with this that concentration depends on many other factors. For example if the humidity and temperature would change 10% than the concentration will be increase / decrease by 50%. If the device does not have sensors it is impossible to guess the real concentration in the room. Recommendation for medical usageAfter testing both devices on patients with medical conditions monitored by medical professionals we can recommend Breeze Tronic Pro for treating patients with medical conditions. With regards to Iiris we did not find it to be appropriate to provide medical therapy. We advise to use them only for spa purposes with clients with no medical condition (e.g. yoga or massage). Internal SensorsIn Breeze Tronic Pro due to the various internal sensors the operator is informed immediately if salt runs out or any part of the device experiences an error. The device and the remote control will also beep and display on the LCD the exact problem. Due to independent fuses if something goes wrong (e.g. a bulb in the room) all the other functions of the device will continue to work, only the light specific fuse will blow in order to protect the device, however the therapy won’t be disturbed. If the humidity or temperature moves out of the ideal range the operator will be informed. It is really important as if the humidity is too low / high the healing effect of the therapy will be reduced. Iiris does not have any of these features. Reception remote control with displayThis optional tool for Salt Caves where the distance between the device and the reception is so far that the operator cannot hear if the device beeps. The remote control shows the remaining time, humidity, temperature on an additional display. Sessions can be also started remotely. If salt runs out or the humidity is too high it will also inform the operator. TV based Media Box and mp3 player for patientsMedia box is available for Breeze Tronic Pro. The media box is controlled by the medical device and is connected to an LCD TV in the Salt Room. It displays the concentration, remaining time, humidity and temperature of the microclimate in the Salt Room for patients. In the meantime a built in MP3 player provides relaxation music for clients, the speakers has to be connected straight to the medical device. Iiris does not have any functions like these. PriceSince monthly payment plan is available for Breeze Tronic Pro it is a more sensible choice for someone just about opening a salt cave. You don't have to invest money into it, you can pay the monthly installments from the funds the device generated with providing professional Salt Therapy treatment. You can also trade in your existing Iiris machine into a Breeze Tronic Pro medical device. Technical comparison of Iiris and Breeze Tronic Pro
